January 13, 2021

Niagara-on-the-Lake – The Niagara Regional Police Services (NRPS) have issued a media release today providing notice that they had arrested and charged Kazi Marouf, the former Vice President of Operations of Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro (NOTL Hydro), for fraud.  Over $425,000 was fraudulently obtained from NOTL Hydro through the issuing of false invoices.

NOTL Hydro has been assisting the NRPS with their investigation and thanks the NRPS for all that they have done.

Kazi Marouf joined NOTL Hydro in 2017 and served as the Vice President, Operations until September 2020.

94% of the fraudulently obtained funds have been recovered and NOTL Hydro is confident that all the funds will be recovered.  This fraud will have no impact on hydro rates or on NOTL Hydro services.
